Richard Hannon is excited to see that his 2000 Guineas runner-up King Of Change make his return at Sandown on Wednesday.
The Farhh colt was a mostly unconsidered shot to the colts’ Classic of the year around the Rowley Mile, however outran his huge odds to complete a moment supporting the Aidan O’Brien-trained Magna Grecia.
King Of Change has not been seen in competitive activity as but he’s very likely to be a hot order to earn a successful comeback in this one-mile Listed competition.
„He’s in good shape and has experienced a nice break since the Guineas. He goes there with a good chance,“ stated that the Herridge handler.
„I’m sure he’ll come to the run – he’s been off the trail a very long time, so he’s bound to need it a bit.
„We’re pleased with him and it’ll be useful to get him moving again.“
King Of Change is placed to face five competitions, together with the area led by the South African sponsor Winter of Sir Michael Stoute.
The six-year-old was since January of this past year, when he was beaten at Kenilworth in a Grade One.
The Godolphin colors are carried by the Wootton and Silver Line of Charlie Appleby out of Saeed bin Suroor’s lawn. Prior to finishing fifth at a handicap at York a 25, the latter bolted up.
„He’s been running nicely, but this looks a difficult race,“ his coach admitted.
„He’s in good shape, is working nicely and I am content with him. I am hoping for a fantastic run.
„Occasionally these Recorded races may be a bit easier than the handicaps, but this one can be hard.“
Roger Varian’s long-absent Prince Eiji and John Gosden’s Celebration Mile runner-up Turgenev are another hopefuls.
The prospective star draw on the undercard at the Esher venue is the Gosden-trained Palace Pier.
The Kingman colt might hardly have been more impressive on his debut on distance and the span and wants to take a punishment to success at the Max Patel Wealth Manager Of Choice Novice Stakes under Frankie Dettori.
Gosden said:“He’s been nice and we intended to visit a newcomer. It’s the previous day and since he appreciated the track there last time, we decided to move again.
„I’ve left him in the Dewhurst and that I was really impressive the other day, (but) you might suddenly see us slipping on the Channel – unless they lock us out!“
